Thirst

"As the deer pants for streams of water, so my soul pants for you, O God. My soul thirsts for God, for the living God. When can I go and meet with God?" Psalm 42:1

Well, I know this photo isn't of a deer. It's a giraffe. But I took the photo myself and I love it so I'm using it! When I was in Africa I saw this giraffe bending down to drink and hopped up on the seat of my missionary friend, Barb Kuert's Land Rover, stuck my head through the top and snapped this photo before the giraffe stood up. Cool, huh?

Tomorrow morning in service, Pastor and I are going to be bringing a tag team message and within that message I'm going to talk about a thirst for God.

I want to ask you as worshippers to prepare your hearts to meet with God tomorrow, as we lead His people into His presence. There is nothing, nothing, nothing like the presence of the Lord. The presence of the Lord can do in 5 seconds what none of us could do in 5 years!

People everywhere are looking for other things, other loves, other pursuits, to satisfy their parched souls. Nothing else will do - because until you stay filled up on God you'll always be thirsty, hungry and longing.

Please spend time in prayer tonight, for tomorrow's service. Expect great things from God. As we pray for Him to show up, and we praise Him - when his presence does come, NOTHING IS IMPOSSIBLE.

Quotable Quote

After I finished watching American Idol after church tonight and seeing the above clip, I got the following message on e-mail from Joel Powell, Northside worship team and choir member:

"By the way...after seeing American Idol tonight I feel it would be a good idea to add to the prereqisite that if anyone tries out for American Idol they are not allowed to mention they sing in the church choir or that their voice is a gift from God."

LOL...I agree wholeheartedly, Joel. :-)

Exceeding Joy

I've been asked about the song "Exceeding Joy" that we're doing on Sunday. (Yes, we'll do this for the first time at our church Sunday although, it is not a "brand new" song to the world at large - it was released on Hillsong's "Hope" project a few years ago. Many of you probably already know it. But it is such a favorite of mine and we have not done it yet at Northside. Why, I don't know since I have only listened to it on repeat sometimes 10 times a day...ever since the Hope CD first came out. (SMILE)

I do love this song immensely...

I hope you all find it as beautiful as I do. Take a listen and be ready for Sunday, if you don't already know it.

The Story of a Successful Team of Artists

Today I'd like to give you an excerpt from the book, The Heart of the Artist, by Rory Noland. Consider this as we pray and prepare for Sunday morning:

THE STORY OF A SUCCESSFUL TEAM OF ARTISTS

"I want to conclude by telling a story from the Bible about a group of artists who did something great for God. In Exodus 35 Moses rallied the people of Israel together to build the tabernacle. The people got so excited about the opportunity to do something great for God and donated so much money and material that Moses had to tell them to stop. Then Moses called the gifted artists together, divided them into teams, and gave them their assignments. There was great attention to detail; the Bible devotes four chapters to describing the artistry that went into the building of the tabernacle; When it was all done, a cloud representing God's majesty rested over them, and His glory filled the tabernacle. (Exodus 40:34) Can you imagine how those artists felt? They had worked together as a team and had accomplished something great for God, and He had blessed their work. God's glory shone through their art. God had anointed their efforts. What more could you ask for as an artist? They had come together as artists to do what no one of them could do alone, and God had blessed it!"

p.s. by the way, there are some more great changes to the choir room! Can't wait for you to check it out on Sunday!
