Things to know for Sunday, December 28th

Wow, what a super job the choir did last Sunday. Awesome! Thanks everybody, for your hard work and dedication.

This Sunday will be our last of the 2008 year and we are going to go out with FREEDOM AND POWER and believe God for amazing things. This Sunday we're going to do "Halleluiah" as the choir song once again. Wow, what a response! We did the reprise not once, but twice. Epi is "da man"!

Worship songs for this week are as follows:

I am Free
Freedom
Freedom Reigns
God of this City

Colors are your choice...perhaps you got something for Christmas that you'd like to wear Sunday morning, just make sure it's in platform dress code!

We do not have rehearsal this week or next...the first choir rehearsal of the new year will be on Sunday, January 11th at 4:45 pm. That night is a prayer service for our annual week of prayer, and we will just come early to rehearse before the prayer meeting. All choir members are asked to be at that prayer meeting if at all possible -- it's very important to start our new year off right!

We are also bringing new members into the choir at this time, so get the word out about how much fun it is to be part of this group!

Also just a reminder about the New Year's Eve party at the church...there will be a variety show and stand up comedy and if any of you are interested in signing up for that, please see me ASAP!! It's going to be a great night -- you don't want to miss it!

Reminders for the Christmas Service

Don't forget rehearsal this Wednesday night at 8:30 pm! This is our last rehearsal (aside from Sunday morning.) We will go over all songs at this time.

Sunday morning frontline needs to be at the church at 8:00 am, with choir following at 8:30. There will be no regular praise and worship songs on Sunday, as it will all be Christmas songs and carols. You will be given the list at Sunday morning's rehearsal.

Colors for Sunday are black with silver and gold accents.

Invite cards were given out on Sunday morning for you to give to friends/family and we encourage you to get more on Wednesday night if needed.

A reminder that choir members and their families are going out for pizza to ABC Pizza after church. Join us if you are able to. We're just going to fellowship and enjoy one another's company after a great service!

Be in prayer for Sunday ~ we are believing God for great things.

At the last luncheon, we had several choir members who were not able to eat at all, as there was nothing left by the time they went through the line. We want to continue to have our luncheons as it's a great time to share together, but we do need to make sure enough is provided for all who attend. Thank you in advance for your generosity.

Also remember to rehearse the first song in the Christmas book in preparation for rehearsal this week.

Questions? Not able to be at service or rehearsal this week? Don't forget to call!

    What a service!

Wow, the presence of God was so strong in our midst this past Sunday was amazing! We're going to another level this week, so get ready, and pray it in! As you know we ended up doing "Healer" Sunday morning because the Holy Spirit just led that way. What a time!

As Pastor mentioned on Sunday, where God is doing things, the devil shows up too! So we need to be in much prayer for His Kingdom to be increased, and the assignments of the enemy to be cancelled. Join me in intercession and fasting this week, for continued breakthroughs. Love and appreciate all of you...

AMAZING GRACE MY CHAINS ARE GONE

Wow! What a service Sunday! I'm still thanking God for all that He did. The best is yet to come.

As promised in rehearsal Sunday, I'm posting this video for you to learn for this upcoming Sunday. Dustin and I did this as a special number this past week, but in this week upcoming we'll sing it in worship. So be ready!

AMAZING GRACE MY CHAINS ARE GONE

Amazing grace how sweet the sound that saved a wretch like me
I once was lost, but now I'm found, was blind, but now I see

'Twas grace that taught my heart to fear and grace my fears relieved
How precious did that grace appear the hour I first believed

    CHORUS:

My chains are gone! I've been set free!
My God, my Savior has ransomed me
And like a flood His mercy reigns
    Unending love, Amazing grace

The Lord has promised good to me, His word my hope secures
He will my shield and portion be as long as life endures

    Verse 3:

The earth shall soon dissolve like snow, the sun forget to shine
But God, who called me here below, will be forever mine
    Will be forever mine
    You are forever mine

UPDATED 8/18/08 - I had the original Planetshakers video on here however they removed it from YouTube. I like the way Planetshakers does the song and this was the only other video I could find -- it's a cartoon...but at least you can hear the song.

We begin rehearsal on this Sunday, and will introduce it to the congregation in the upcoming weeks. This song is hot, hot, hot right now and it's no wonder why!!! It's so amazing. I'm just a lih-tle bit excited about it. Get ready, get ready, get ready...

Ever notice I say things in three's when I get excited?

    Yes, yes, yes.

    Can't wait, can't wait, can't wait!!!

    :)

    Lyrics below...

    HEALER

    You hold my every moment
    You calm my raging seas
You walk with me through fire
    And heal all my disease
    I trust in You
    I trust in You

    I believe You're my Healer
I believe You are all I need
    I believe You're my Portion
I believe You're more than enough for me
    Jesus You're all I need

    Nothing is impossible for You
    Nothing is impossible for You
    Nothing is impossible for You
You hold my world in Your hands

    Line up for July 20

Hope you all are having a great summer, filled with the joy of the Lord and some extra time to rest and renew if at all possible. We have had lots of Northsiders on vacation and my prayer for each of you is that you would be renewed. refreshed and restored... to go forth, to do His will and serve Him as never before!

Remember if you are on vacation, please let me know...communication is essential so that proper planning for the weekend is in order. Sometimes we have to change the choir song dependent upon too many people being out in one section. The earlier you can let me know if you are going to be missing, the better so that we do not have a stressful morning with having to change things up at the last minute. Thank you!

    Worship Songs:
    God is Moving
    God is Great
    Give Us Clean Hands
How Great is Our God/How Great Thou Art

    Choir song: "It's in Jesus"

    Colors: Black and white

Just FYI, as I announced this past Sunday morning, our next choir rehearsal is Sunday, August 3. We are going to do something different this time. We will be sharing lunch immediately following morning worship and then rehearsing...and you will have the rest of the day free! Everyone is asked to bring a dish to share...we will be having lunch potluck style. Drinks will be provided. This will be a fun time of fellowship with the choir members, and something you don't want to miss!

In preparation for this rehearsal, please practice "He's Been Good" and "In all the Earth" from the Obvious Collection.

Also remember, these are the days of summer where many go at a slower pace and take time to rest and renew which is good ~ but don't slack off on prayer and seeking God for what He wants to do in our lives and in His church!

    Love you all...

Stuff for Sunday morning, July 13

God has really been stirring my heart along the lines of obedience and holiness and this week we're going to sing about that. Right now our preaching series on Sunday morning is about freedom. In relation to that, keep in mind that unless we are living holy lives in obedience to God, the freedom we so long for will elude us. There is freedom and joy in living a life abandoned to Him.

A recent quote that has really spoken to my heart:

"We are prepared to serve the Lord only by sacrifice. We are fit for the work of God only when we have wept over it, prayed about it, and then we are enabled by Him to tackle the job that needs to be done. May God give to us hearts that bleed, eyes that are wide open to see, minds that are clear to interpret God's purposes, wills that are obedient, and a determination that is utterly unflinching as we set about the tasks He would have us do."
    ~
    Alan Redpath

Holy is the Lord God Almighty
Holy, Holy, Holy (Praise Him, Praise Him & Lift Him Up)
    Living Sacrifice
Holiness, Holiness is What I Long for (Take My Life)

This is also missions Sunday. Choir will sing for missions offering and the song will be ~ Until Every Nation

Colors for this week are YOUR CHOICE but please make sure you are in PLATFORM DRESS CODE. Question/clarification as to what that is? Call or e-mail me.

Also if you are not going to be here Sunday morning - due to sickness, vacation or whatever, please e-mail or call me.

    Above all else........pray the price!

Sunday, June 29 News & Notes

    Worship Songs This Week:

Holy is the Lord God Almighty (The Earth is Filled With His Glory…)
    You, You Are God
    Be Glorified
    Holy, Holy, Holy (Hymn)
    Pour My Love on You

    Choir Song This Week: Obvious

Colors this week: Your choice of color ~ we're going to go mixed this week ~ let's call is "freestyle" ~ just please stay in platform dress guidelines - with specific attention to...no shorts, jeans, strapless, spaghetti straps, etc. Thank you!

Other stuff to note: PRAY, PRAY, PRAY!

Last week we have a salvation, a few rededications and re-fillings of the baptism in the Holy Spirit! God is so good. All this despite the enemy trying to stop us with the power going out. However, although our natural power went out the supernatural power never did! God's power was with us and took us through to a great service with lives changed.

Let's pray for that same life-changing power to move in our midst this week.

** Next choir rehearsal is Sunday night, July 6 ~ please rehearse songs, "He's Been Good" and "In All The Earth" in preparation. We're going to have some extra special fun at next time's rehearsal so be ready!

    Stuff for Sunday, June 22

    Sunday Morning Set:

    God is Moving
    Send the Fire
    Old Time Power
    Let it Rain

    Choir song: Spirit of God

What we're wearing: red, for fire! Woo hoo! :-) (Black and red, either, both - your choice)

Be sure to see song lyrics and special note, on blog post below. Thanks!

More than anything, PRAY and come EXPECTING!

    Send the Fire &
    Old Time Power

We are headed into another week of our series of messages on, "The Presence Driven Church"! Wow, what a time we had last week. God did some great things. We are picking up right where we left off last week. Come expecting great things.

The following are two hymns we will be doing this week. Some of you know them well and have done them many times before. Some of you have never heard them before. These are a lot of words to know for the upcoming service if you are not familiar with these songs, so I'm printing them all there so you can acquaint yourselves with the words before rehearsal Sunday. Choir members, if you don't know these songs, I'd recommend that you get to worship rehearsal a bit earlier when the band/frontline gets there (8 am) to go over the songs.

    SEND THE FIRE

    Verse 1

O God of burning cleansing flame, send the fire
Your blood-bought gift today we claim
    Send the fire today

Look down and see this waiting host
And send the promised Holy Ghost
    We need another Pentecost
    Send the fire today
    Send the fire today

    Verse 2

God of Elijah hear our cry, send the fire
And make us fit to live or die, send the fire today

To burn up every trace of sin
To bring the light and glory in
    The revolution now begin
    Send the fire today
    Send the fire today

    Verse 3

It's fire we want for fire we plead, send the fire
The fire will meet our every need, send the fire today

For strength to always do what's right
For grace to conquer in the fight
For power to walk the world in white
    Send the fire today
    Send the fire today

To make our weak hearts strong and brave, send the fire
To live a dying world to save, send the fire today

Oh see us on Your altar lay
We give our lives to You today
So crown the offering now we pray
    Send the fire today
    Send the fire today
    Send the fire today

    OLD TIME POWER

    Verse 1:

They were in an upper chamber, they were all in one accord
When the Holy Ghost descended as was promised by our Lord.

    CHORUS

    O Lord, send the power just now, O Lord, send the power just now;
O Lord, send the power just now, and baptize every one.

    Verse 2

    Yes, the power from Heav’n descended, with the sound of rushing wind;
Tongues of fire came down upon them, as the Lord said He would send.

    Verse 3

Yes, this old time power was given, to our fathers who were true
This is promised to believers, and we all may have it too.

Stuff to know for Sunday, June 15

    Praise and Worship This Week:

    All About You
Holy is the Lord God Almighty (The Earth is filled with his glory)
    You Are (My Heart's Desire)
    Pour My Love on You
Holy, Holy, Holy (the hymn...just verse one)

Choir Song: "We Speak to Nations"

What we're wearing this week: Black, pink and white

Next choir rehearsal: Sunday night, June 22

Let's remember a few things this week...

    • We must pray the price for what God wants to do.

    • Fasting is also a part of it!

    • Let's not forget our main mission: lost people! Do you care about them? Is this on your mind throughout the week, or an afterthought once you hear the pastors mention the importance...

    • Who have you invited for church this week? Remember: M.B.I.T.S.! Not just a campaign, it's a passion of our hearts ~ caring about those who don't know Him.

    Stuff for this weekend

Hey team ~ buckle up - this is going to be one exciting weekend!!!
Lots to share with you today:

First, instructions for Saturday's "DAY OF REFRESHING"...

The order of worship songs will be the same for this Saturday's Day of Refreshing as we did this past Sunday morning. Please be in place ready to get a sound check at 9:00 am sharp and then you will be released to continental breakfast and workshops. Service follows that. I will let you know as the time gets closer what the choir song will be. I am still considering it, but no worries, it will be something you know VERY well.

Note that for Saturday, colors are BLACK AND WHITE. Please look sharp! This is a BIG DAY!

    Now, on to Sunday...

Our theme for June is, "A Presence Driven Church". I want you to be READY for the presence of God to come in and descend upon the place like never before. I'm serious. Be in more prayer than you've EVER been in because I know God wants to do something great.

Worship line up for this week:

Lord I Lift Your Name on High
    Ancient of Days
    You Said
    We Speak to Nations

Most of you know the song "We Speak to Nations" from Lakewood Live, however we do not sing it regularly at NS, so some of you will have to familiarize yourself. Go to the You Tube video I've posted below with the lyrics and have a good knowledge of this for Sunday if you don't already know it well. It's one of the most powerful songs ever to be written. As we're going after the nations as never before, this song is renewed in my heart as one we need to sing and declare.

Colors for this Sunday are YOUR CHOICE, however........please STAY IN PLATFORM DRESS CODE! You know what I'm talkin' about. Don't set me up for a "come to Jesus" meeting with you. I'm just sayin'. (lol)

I am not sure about the choir song for Sunday yet. I have to work out some technical bugs (shock!) before I let you know that but I'll post again before Sunday. Again, no worries, it will be something you know like the back of your hand. (do you know the back of your hand?) :)

Just a note that we do not have choir rehearsal for the next two weeks. This Sunday afternoon/evening is Beach Day at Ft. DeSoto. I hope you'll be joining us after morning worship there. It's going to be a blast. Please join me as I float on my pink noodle, thanking God that we live in paradise. :-)

Next Sunday is Father's Day. It's Daddio's big day so we'll be having morning worship and dedicating our afternoon/evening to spending time with Dad.

The next choir rehearsal is sunday night, June 22. Things to work on? He's Been Good fron the Obvious Collection, and the rest of the Missions book.

Questions? E-mail me or post a comment here.

Love you and let's remember to PRAY THE PRICE for this Sunday. Invite a friend. Start caring about lost people if you don't already.

LAKEWOOD LIVE - We Speak to Nations

    Hear the sound
The sound of the nations calling
    Hear the sound
The sound of the fatherless crying
    Who will go for us
Who will shout to the corners of the earth
    That Christ is King

We speak to nations, be open
We speak to nations, fall on your knees
    We speak to nations
The kingdom is coming near to you
We speak to strongholds, be broken
Powers of darkness, you have to flee
    We speak to nations
The kingdom is coming near to you
We speak to you Be free
    be free (Yeah, yeah)

    Hear the sound
The sound of the nations worshipping
    Hear the sound
    Of sons and daughters singing
    We will go for you
We will shout to the corners of the earth
    That Christ is King

    Fine linen

"And thou shalt make a vail of blue, and purple, and scarlet, and fine twined linen..." Exodus 26:31

Exodus 26 details the specifications for the building of the Tabernacle and the instructions were quite detailed. They were to use only "fine linen" and give their best to God.

I believe God wants us to be fine linen people. He desires a church that will not only reach the nations but will use every resource at our disposal, and use it well.

Despite many obstacles you viewed every song as an opportunity this weekend and came through with flying colors. You watched carefully and went with the flow of what was needed at the time to "make it work."

Thank you for giving your best...your "fine linen." Just as with the building of the Tabernacle, you too consistently gave your fine linen this weekend -- 100%-- and I am so proud of you!

    Missions Convention Weekend

This is it! The missions convention is here in just a few days.

On Sunday morning the choir will do "Everywhere" and "Spirit of God."

Sunday night we will do all four songs - "Everywhere", "Until Every Nation", "Spirit of God" and "We'll Build Your Church Lord." If you haven't already, memorize, memorize, memorize!!!

Sunday morning wear whatever you like because we're going to do robes on Sunday AM. Sunday night is going to be ALL BLACK. That's right, SOLID BLACK.

Sunday morning rehearsal times are as usual and on Sunday night the choir is needed at 5 pm at the church. Please plan accordingly.

    Worship for Sunday morning is:

    God is Moving
    Days of Elijah
    Mighty to Save
    Hear us from Heaven

Please don't forget that in preparation for this great WORLD IMPACTING WEEKEND, we are having prayer at the church from 11 pm - 1 am on Friday night, followed by fellowship at IHOP. Also there is a 24 hour prayer shift going on Saturday from 10:30 until Sunday at 10:30. We must PAY THE PRICE for our next level. Reaching the world costs something. Yes it costs our finances but also our prayer power. C'mon, it's time to DIG IN, not time to SIT BACK. You are the warriors on the frontline and every one of you is needed to STEP UP TO THE PLATE AND P.U.S.H. (Pray until something happens.)

Let's go forth and impact nations!!!

    Tuesday, May 6, 2008

50 day challenge comes to and end, but it's only the beginning of what God will do!!!

Recently in our leadership meeting, Bernie Currie reminded our leaders of the old saying that someone once said - "Some people make things happen. Some people sit back and refuse to get involved as they watch other people make things happen. Some people just look around and wonder, "what just happened?"

I don't know about you but I want to be part of the group that chooses to make things happen. The biggest ways we do that are through praying, fasting, expectancy and serving!! Our team is an important part of that at Northside. And in this year of increase, we must increase our fasting, praying, expecting and serving! As we do I believe we will move past the small streams of refreshing, anointing and power we have experienced and move into what will seem like a water fall of God's Spirit, just rushing over our lives, our families, our church! We can't just sit back and wait for it, we have to press in and believe. This is the will of God for us. Okay, enough preaching there, I'll give you the 4-1-1 on Sunday:

Things to note for Sunday morning, May 11:

    Praise and worship songs:

    God is Moving
    Days of Elijah
    Mighty to Save
    Hear us From Heaven

    Choir song: It's in Jesus

Colors: This Sunday is Mother's Day and I want all Moms to be able to wear the color and outfit of their choice, yet I would like us to be especially uniform for this week's service, so this week will be "robe Sunday" but you will get to wear your "choice outfit" (with it showing) when not on the platform. Thanks!

This Sunday concludes the 50 day challenge. I don't know about you but I am believing for BIG things as we continue on. Let's let God be God in His house! It's time for the next level. It's time, time, time!

Frontline and band - 8 am; Choir at 8:30 - don't be late!

Also choir please remember to practice the daylights out of the first three songs in your "Everywhere" book. Let's have it ready to go and power packed.

    ~ I love you all ~

    Everlasting God

We're learning a new song Sunday morning and may well do it at some time in worship depending on how well we do in rehearsal and how ready we are. Please familiarize yourself with it if you don't already know it. Click link here for YouTube video of Chris Tomlin's version.

Strength will rise as we wait upon the Lord
We will wait upon the Lord
We will wait upon the Lord
    (repeat)

    Our God You reign forever
    Our Hope our strong Deliverer

    You are the everlasting God
    The everlasting God
    You do not faint
    You won't grow weary
You're the defender of the weak
    You comfort those in need
You lift us up on wings like eagles

We are warriors on the frontlines at Northside. When there was a battle back in the days of the Bible, they sent the praisers out first. That's us! LYRICS:

    Lord, hear our cry
    Come heal our land
Breathe life into these dry and thirsty souls

    Lord, hear our prayer
    Forgive our sin
And as we call on your name
would you make this a place for your glory to dwell

    Chorus:

    Open the blind eyes
    Unlock the deaf ears
    Come to your people
    As we draw near
    Hear us from heaven

Just a platform dress code reminder - no jeans, strapless, thin straps or bare backs.

Choir rehearsal is Sunday night - just a reminder that we are working on "He's Been Good" from the Obvious Collection and also the first song in your missions musical book, "Everywhere."

If for some reason you will not be present this Sunday, please let me know ASAP. Remember, the excellence of the worship team/choir is dependent upon your faithfulness and commitment to our "expectations for excellence" outlined in January.

Keep fasting, keep praying, keep believing for something awesome this week!

On the list for this Sunday...

Expect great things from God as we continue in this 50 day challenge! This Sunday makes 3 weeks of fasting and prayer for breakthrough! Let's keep pressing in.

    Worship songs for this week:

    Blessed be Your Name
    Trading My Sorrows
    Amazed
    You Are Near

First offering - choir will sing "Obvious" - those of you who were not here at rehearsal on Sunday need to especially focus on this and make sure you know it. Please go over it with your rehearsal CD this week and come to morning rehearsal with it memorized this week.

Second offering (missions): The choir/worship team will do the song, "Living Sacrifice" that was taught to the congregation last week. To brush up on this again simply go to the link in the post below and click and listen.

Colors this week: your choice! Yeah! This is a "your choice" week however please keep in mind all other guidelines of modesty and dress still apply. :-)

We've got lots to do with polishing up Obvious to make sure it's ready to go on Sunday, so please...band, frontline and choir...be on time!

    Prayer requests from tonight's rehearsal

Here are the prayer requests for tonight, plus a funny church sign I found. I thought you all would find it amusing! Um, this is a REAL sign from a REAL church.

Todd - got finger caught in machine at work, halfway amputated finger and is undergoing surgery on Tuesday. Can't use left hand at all and he is left handed. He also has upper respiratory infection.

Bonnie - pain in upper abdomen. Having endoscopy.

Brian - Donna's son - recently saved; trying to get job, also other financial needs.

Pastor Lindsay - sick this week, also has consultation for laser surgery Tuesday. Praise report - friend Kristen is moving closer towards the Lord, is seeking; recently spoke of going on a fast. Pray for her to be drawn closer to a relationship with Jesus.

    Susan - stomach issues.

Jordan - spring break safety for everyone.

    Donna - many physical issues.

    Dawn - "drama" at job.

Margaret - Ashley - personal situations

    James - for his son/leadership

    Lyrics to song for Sunday

Information for this Sunday (April 6) service is below...and here are lyrics to a song we will do on Sunday. (It's an older song but we have not done it at Northside.) We have not been able to find a link or video on line, but please familiarize yourself with the words as much as possible so you don't have to stand there and mouth "watermelon" or "peas and carrots"...

    Living Sacrifice

Take from me my whole life and let it be
    Holy and pleasing unto you
For this is my act of worship so let me be
    Transformed and renewed

    (chorus)
Give me ears that hear your voice
Give me eyes that see your face
Give me the heart of one who worships you with passion
And I will be a living sacrifice

Stuff to know for Sunday Morning
    April 6

GET READY, GET READY, GET READY! With prayer, fasting and expectancy we are looking forward to another great week!

    Sunday Morning Worship Songs

    Beautiful One
Holy is the Lord God Almighty (The earth is filled with his glory)
    Amazing Love
    Living Sacrifice

Choir Song: How Precious is the Blood

Color for Sunday is Red and Black

Also just a reminder that Sunday night is choir practice at 6 pm. We will be learning the song Obvious from the Obvious book collection. Somebody e-mailed me this week and said, "wait, what book was that?" Um, it's OBVIOUS. :-)

You will also be getting new music this week for the missions musical. Yippee!

What's with the picture of the oranges? Well, for the people who are on the Daniel Fast for the 50 day challenge I just wanted to tempt you with something you could actually have... (GRIN) Also to remind you to go forth and bear fruit! Good fruit...the kind that lasts.

Love to all...have a fantastic week!
